Oral Health meets e-health symposium

Friday, October 19, 2012

The Australian Government is committed to e-health and facilitating the electronic management of health information. This symposium explored what e-health will mean to the dental profession, discussing an extensive range of teledentistry procedures and applications, as well as the opportunities and risks involved. Information was shared on the impact e-dentistry may have on the patient, the provider and organisational challenges, and it also presented examples of eHealth services and initiatives.

The event attracted oral health professionals, health and public health professionals, hospital and clinical directors, educators, public policy makers, students and others interested in e-health and telehealth issues.

The symposium was presented by the Oral Health CRC at the Melbourne Dental School, together with the Institute for a Broadband Enabled Society (IBES), the Victorian eResearch Strategic Initiative (VeRSI) and the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch. This is the sixth Oral Health Symposium on population oral health, addressing priority areas as established by Australia's National Oral Health Plan 2004 - 2013.
